June 14th @ 9:29pm
8lbs 10oz 51cm
a full head of hair, cute little nose, cute little ears, 10 fingers and 10 toes.
heard from a couple people (my mom and Mandy) that he has pretty long fingers for a baby... wouldn't surprise me with Will as his father. lol. though, if you see the picture of me from when I was at the hospital as a newborn, there's an identical resemblance
he's got chubby cheeks but he's not really chubby elsewhere. his arms are pretty lanky looking and his legs just look normal to me.
his eyes are my favorite. they were half brown (around pupil) and half blue at birth but now they look like a mix of grey, green and blue and they almost seem metallic. dark too. if there isn't much for light, they almost look black. ... I hope he keeps them because they're gorgeous but you never know.
he was named "Tank" from a couple of the nurses/doctors (yet he was still 3.5oz lighter than I was at birth. hahaha) and he's strong - has a good grip (with both fingers and toes. lol), quite a strong neck since he's been lifting his own head since the day he was born.
we got him circumcised - as personal preference and hygienic reasons. I wasn't in the room for that. but, it's healing up quite nicely. ... and we even got it done on the 8th day like the bible says (according to my sister). what a coinkidink. lol
and he's perfect. also quoted by health professionals so he's good and healthy too.
heard I did REALLY well with the birth... my water broke at 11:30am-ish. I had back labour so that was a pain (really. PAINFUL.) got an epidural after about an hour or two of that and calmed right down. I was only doing 20 minutes of pushing before he was out. the doctors also used forceps because his heart rate would drop here and there so they wanted him out asap just in case... but I heard a lot of "wow"'s about that: only 20 minutes of pushing. his shoulder got stuck but other than that nothing went wrong. I only had 2nd degree tearing which, for an 8lb 10oz baby who's shoulder got stuck and forceps were used, is not that bad.
man is the recovery disgusting, though. no one ever tells you about the aftermath of it all. yeah, it's totally worth everything when you see the miracle you just pushed out but, really, so gross: catheter, pads that feel like diapers but are needed because you're leaking blood hardcore (and that lasts up to 6 weeks. SIX weeks. what's the point of having an awesome no rag for 9 months when you get one that can last SIX weeks? lol), your belly feels like jelly (like how jiggly your boobs feel during the pregnancy). and no one tells you all this. you figure it out from the nurses, along with all the things you have to watch out for. like tissue clots. blegh.
but, it really is all worth it. I just have to watch my baby blues and self-esteem levels. and look at my beautiful baby boy - that always puts a smile on my face.
